Chongqing Local Snacks
Cake Batter:
Sichuan's special dessert- cake batter is made with sweet rice, after which red beans, roses, sesame seeds and meat are added and the batter is steamed. This dessert is soft and sweet yet refreshing.
Dan Dan Mian:
This quintessentially Sichuan dish illustrates the brilliance of western Chinese cooking: the silky yellow thin noodles served in Soya sauce, spring onion, vinegar, hot oil and generous serving of chili and pepper with sesame dressing. The sauce could be made earlier and store in the fridge for an instant, satisfying meal. "Dan dan" is the Chinese equivalent for the distinctive noise made by the noodle vendor who sold this dish in the alleys of China. Real sensational!

Liang Fen:
Cold Noodles. These are white rice noodles served cold with a hot, spicy and ma sauce. Especially great in summer, as the local say.
