Shanghai Local Specialties:
 
Shanghai is like a big shopping mall, where there are numerous shopping streets and department stores. Silk dresses would be great buys there as Shanghai tailors are arguably the best in China. The most famous local arts and crafts include hand-made carpets, jade or ivory carvings, tea and antiques. The major shopping streets in Shanghai are Nanjing Road and Huaihai Road. One thing to remember is that shopping is a local pastime, so expect to jostle your way through big crowds, especially during weekends.

Jade carving was already well developed 3000 years In Zhou and Shang dynasties. With it s bright and pure luster, jade has always been considered by Chinese people to be the most treasured with tremendous value. Shanghai is one of few cities where some master craftsmen live. Hand-made Carpet:
